I cannot rely on a three-year period at Man Utd - the United boss

Ruben Amorim

Ruben Amorim - seen receiving consolation post May's European final loss - says he is pleased by the co-owner's long-term backing but emphasized that the future is unpredictable in soccer.

United's manager Ruben Amorim thinks it is important the co-owner went public with his future vision - but says nothing is certain about tomorrow in football, much less three full years.

In an interview with a major publication recently, Sir Jim mentioned it may need the head coach a three-year period to make a significant impact at Old Trafford.

Coming in a period when Amorim's future has been receiving close inspection after a prolonged run of disappointing results, the statements assisted in calming certain present tensions.

But, speaking before the hundredth encounter with traditional foes the Merseyside club at Anfield, the manager emphasized how the future is hard to predict in soccer.

"It's certainly beneficial to hear it but he informs me continuously, sometimes with a message post fixtures - but recognize, I know and Ratcliffe understands, that the sport isn't that predictable," he stated.

"The most important thing is the upcoming match. Despite having backers, you cannot control the next day in football."

Top executive Omar Berrada has admitted it has taken significantly extended periods for Amorim to acclimate to the English top flight subsequent to his appointment from his former club in November than anybody anticipated.

The Red Devils have secured 10 times in 34 top-flight fixtures during Amorim's tenure. They still haven't achieved consecutive league victories and didn't complete a fixture schedule this season better than ninth place.

The concerning numbers are stretching belief in the head coach among the Old Trafford faithful approaching a run of games the side has performed poorly in for the previous two campaigns.

The manager stated he does not feel the uncertainty inside the club at the club's Carrington training ground and is adamant nothing can match the expectation he places on the squad - and in certain ways, he would prefer Sir Jim to avoid attempting to establish serenity because he worries the effect it might produce on the players.

"It isn't merely an item of conversation, I sense it each day," he stated. "It's truly positive to hear it because it assists our supporters to comprehend the management know it is going to take a while.

"Yet concurrently, I'm not fond of it because it creates an impression that we possess time to solve problems. I don't wish for that sense in our club.

"The stress I place on the squad or on myself is considerably larger [versus outside influences]. In soccer, especially in big clubs, you need to prove your worth every weekend."
